M.S./Ph.D. Programme
JNCASR invites applications for admission to M.S./Ph.D. programmes in Science and 
Engineering from students who have qualified in NET-JRF/LS under CSIR/UGC fellowship 
schemes or DBT/ICMR - JRF or GATE / JEST / INSPIRE/ any other equivalent national level 
examinations.  
Integrated Ph.D. Programme  
JNCASR invites applications for admission to the Integrated (Int.) Ph.D. programme in Materials 
Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science.  
Eligibility criteria for Int. Ph.D. Programme  
Materials Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science. Those with Bachelor’s degree in 
Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. Candidates are 
expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 
Chemical Science: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and 
mathematics as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2 level).  
Biological Sciences: This is offered in two disciplines (a) Evolutionary and Organismal 
Biology:  Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics. Those with 
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be 
considered. (b) Molecular Biology and Genetics: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science. 
For all the above Int. Ph.D. programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks at 
the Bachelor’s level. Those appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.  
Important:  Last date for receipt of duly completed applications for M.S./Ph.D. programme is         
31 March 2012. Last date for receipt of duly completed applications for Int. Ph.D. programme

ELIGIBILITY  : (a) For Physical Sciences, M.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics,
with at least 55% marks.  Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had
Mathematics at least up to the B.Sc. level.  Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with
B.Tech. (Electronics/Electrical) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance
examination. (b) For Chemical Sciences, M.Sc. degree in Chemistry or Physics, with at least
55% marks. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Analytical/Organic/
Inorganic/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics/Polymer Chemistry at the Master’s level. (c)
For Mathematical Sciences, M.Sc. degree in Mathematics, with at least 55% marks.
